Vietnam’s deputy prime minister held high-level talks in Washington with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick as the nation pushes for a trade deal amid a 90-day pause in Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariffs.

The two sides officially agreed to start negotiating details of tariffs, which is the “most important pillar” of a bilateral trade agreement, according to a statement on the government website.
