Czech parliamentary leaders called on the US Congress to preserve Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty outlet as a way to promote free speech and democratic values in authoritarian nations.
Operations of Radio Free Europe, a nonprofit news organization, are threatened because of sweeping spending cuts by the US government. Based in the Czech capital Prague, RFE has been furloughing staff and suing the US administration in order to restore its Congressionally appropriated funding.
