The rollout of a new survey to provide a more accurate picture of Britain’s labor market will not take place until late 2026 and could slip into the following year, clouding the view of Bank of England policymakers at a vital moment.
The Office for National Statistics said on Thursday that the “transformed” labor market survey will be a shortened 15-minute questionnaire to help boost response rates after a plunge made key unemployment, employment and economic inactivity estimates unreliable.
