Japanese stocks resumed falling on Friday, dragged down by concerns that an intensifying trade war between the world’s two biggest economies will slow global growth.

The broader Topix index fell 2.9% to close at 2,466.91, while the Nikkei 225 Stock Average declined 3% to 33,585.58. The exporter-heavy Nikkei was weighed down by the yen, which continued to climb after surging more than 2% against the dollar overnight.
