Bank of England Deputy Governor Sarah Breeden said policymakers are monitoring a potential weakening in the pound for signs of how to respond to US President Donald Trump’s trade war.

Breeden warned that tariffs would hit UK growth. While the likely effect on inflation is less clear, she singled out the exchange rate as a “key determinant.”
