ECB’s Villeroy Salutes Trump’s Step Toward ‘Economic Reason’

US President Donald Trump’s decision to pause on higher tariffs is the “beginning of a return to economic reason and a bit of realism,” according European Central Bank Governing Council member Francois Villeroy de Galhau.

“For three months, US policy has been marked by great unpredictability — this unpredictability plays against confidence and growth firstly in the US,” he told France 2 TV in an interview on Wednesday. “But tonight, it turns out that unpredictability is playing in the right direction and we have a less bad piece of news.”
