The International Monetary Fund’s executive board intends to discuss and likely approve on Friday a new financing program for Argentina, according to two people familiar with the matter.
The meeting follows multiple informal discussions in recent weeks to pin down details of the deal that would give the South American nation $20 billion in financing. A initial agreement between Argentina and IMF staff hasn’t been published yet but that’s not a requirement for the board to approve it, said one of the people. Both requested anonymity because the discussion isn’t public.
