Finance ministers from Italy and Spain cautioned against too aggressive a response to US President Donald Trump’s tariffs, underscoring the European Union’s divide on the matter.
Giancarlo Giorgetti called for calm while Carlos Cuerpo, who also serves as the Spanish trade chief, warned against a “lose-lose” escalation in remarks that highlight the contrast with a push by France and Germany for a more muscular reaction.
