Crypto exchange OKX was fined by Maltese authorities for breaching the island nation’s anti-money laundering rules, the latest in a string of regulatory setbacks for the platform.

Malta’s Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit imposed a fine of €1.1 million ($1.2 million) on OKX’s local subsidiary this month after an onsite compliance examination in April 2023 uncovered several failures, “some of which were deemed to be serious and systematic,” it said in a notice on Thursday.
