Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.’s new chief executive officer said the cybersecurity firm will take “calculated risks” that could include acquisitions and a hiring spree to accelerate growth and narrow the gap with its rivals.

“The obvious elephant in the room is that we need to grow faster, and in order to grow faster, we will need to take more risks than we were accustomed to in terms of how do we accelerate our product offering, how much we invest in marketing,” Nadav Zafrir, a former commander of the Israeli army’s elite Unit 8200, said in an interview on Thursday.
