IMF Chief Calls Trump’s Tariff Agenda a ‘Significant Risk’

International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva warned that President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariff campaign presented “a significant risk to the global outlook at a time of sluggish growth.”
Her statement on Thursday evening was released after global markets reeled in reaction to Trump’s trade penalties. The S&P 500 Index sank 4.8% — its biggest drop since June 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic.
