ECB’s Schnabel Revives Joint-Debt Debate to Bolster Euro’s Role

European Central Bank Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel said it’s time to talk about joint debt again in the euro area as policymakers see an opportunity to bolster the currency’s role in the global economy.

There’s a “unique chance” to foster the euro’s international standing and the continent should think about ways to achieve this, she said in a speech in Paris outlining policies to revive growth.
