A probe into the “culture, structure and leadership” at the Office for National Statistics has been launched by the government amid growing concerns over the quality of its data.

The review will be led by Robert Devereux — a former top civil servant at the Department for Work and Pensions — according to a joint statement on Tuesday from the Cabinet Office and UK Statistics Authority. The investigation is expected to conclude in the early summer.
