Turkey’s jailed opposition figurehead, Ekrem Imamoglu, urged supporters to boycott entities deemed to be linked to government circles, as protests continue following his arrest last month.

Istanbul’s mayor, seen as the biggest rival to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, called on “millions of our people to join the boycott process with discipline and self devotion,” according to a post on X. The “business world has surrendered to a handful of ambitious people in oppressive and anti-democratic power for years,” he wrote.
