President Donald Trump floated former US ambassador to Israel David Friedman and special envoy Ric Grenell as potential picks for ambassador to the United Nations, after a narrow House Republican majority led him to rescind Representative Elise Stefanik’s nomination.

Trump last week said he asked Stefanik to stay in Congress, because he didn’t want to risk losing her vote as Republicans push to pass a sprawling package of tax cuts.
