ECB’s Panetta Says Battle Against Inflation Isn’t Yet Won

European Central Bank Governing Council member Fabio Panetta said the fight to tame inflation isn’t finished, warning that rising global uncertainty requires a careful approach to lowering interest rates.

“Looking ahead, we can’t yet say that the battle against inflation is over,” the Italian official said in Rome, striking a more hawkish tone than usual. “It’s crucial that we monitor any factors that could prevent inflation from returning to its 2% target.”
