Keir Starmer’s director of communications, Matthew Doyle, quit his post, marking the second senior departure from the UK prime minister’s political team in nine months.

Doyle’s role will now be split between former journalist and ex-TikTok spinner James Lyons, who will be responsible for communications strategy, and longstanding aide Steph Driver, who will be in charge of delivery, Starmer’s spokesman, Tom Wells, told reporters in London, confirming an earlier Guardian report.
