Labour Pledges to Fix UK’s ‘Broken’ Defense Process for Startups

A Labour government pledge to devote at least 10% of its defense budget to new technologies, like drones and artificial intelligence systems, could jump start an industry that risks falling behind European peers.

In the government’s Spring Statement on Wednesday, Chancellor Rachel Reeves separately set aside £400 million ($517 million), which she said would “bring innovative technology to the front line at speed.” Reeves pledged to fix what she called “our broken defense procurement system,” making it easier for companies to bid on government contracts.
