European Leaders Reject Russian Demands for Sanctions Relief

A coalition of European leaders ruled out the possibility of easing sanctions on Russia, one of President Vladimir Putin’s demands to agree to a partial ceasefire with Ukraine.
“Now is not the time for lifting of sanctions,” UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer told reporters in Paris Thursday, standing alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. “Quite the contrary, what we discussed is how we can increase sanctions to support the US initiative to bring Russia to the table through further pressure.”
