United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan rocket has been certified to launch satellites for the US Department of Defense, making it the second company along with Elon Musk’s SpaceX allowed to handle such critical national security missions.

The certification by the US Space Force comes roughly six months after the second flight of Vulcan, developed by the Boeing Co. and Lockheed Martin Corp. joint venture.
