Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre upgraded one of his key election promises to scrap the federal sales tax on new homes in Canada, expanding it to cover new residences worth less than C$1.3 million ($910,000).

That’s an increase from a C$1 million limit he previously announced. The raised ceiling is an apparent move to differentiate his campaign platform from his chief rival, Liberal Leader Mark Carney, who pledged to remove the 5% tax for first-time homebuyers on homes worth up to C$1 million.
