At the bribery trial of former Senator Bob Menendez, jurors saw gold bars and cash he stashed at the house he shared with his wife, heard about the Mercedes Benz a corrupt businessman gave her, and watched video of the couple dining with an Egyptian intelligence agent.
Now, Nadine Menendez, 58, faces her own trial in a New York federal courtroom, where jurors heard opening statements Monday. She’s accused of most of the same crimes that led to her husband’s downfall, and jurors will hear much of the same evidence.
