Pope Makes First Public Appearance Since Hospitalization

Pope Francis appeared to the public for the first time since he was hospitalized more than a month ago, blessing throngs of well-wishers gathered outside.

The pontiff, sitting in a wheelchair, thanked the crowd and gave a thumbs-up sign, singling out “the lady with the yellow flowers” waiting below his hospital balcony.
