Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has imposed a state of emergency in Rivers State in the oil producing Niger Delta, after explosions rocked crude pipelines in the area.

The president also ordered the suspension for six months of Siminalayi Fubara, the governor and his deputy, alongside local legislators elected in 2023 and appointed a retired military administrator to govern the state.
