ECB’s Escriva Sees ‘Very Significant’ Risks to Baseline Scenario

The European Central Bank’s assumptions for inflation and economic growth face big risks in each direction, according to Governing Council member Jose Luis Escriva, who said such unpredictability makes it impossible to predict further interest-rate moves.
Policymakers are still assessing the knock-on effects of an array of US trade tariffs as well as Europe’s rapid rearmament, the Spanish central-bank chief told Bloomberg Television. As such, the ECB must keep its options open for April’s rate meeting, he said.
