Pope Francis’s health has stabilized and he is no longer in imminent danger of dying after pneumonia forced the pontiff to be hospitalized for almost a month.

The 88-year-old remains in stable condition and improvements shown in recent days have consolidated, the Vatican said in a statement on Monday evening. While doctors lifted the pope’s prognosis, they weren’t yet ready to release him.
