Mexico’s inflation accelerated more than expected in February, as policymakers doubled the pace of interest rate cuts and uncertainty over trade relations with the US started to hit the economy.

Consumer prices rose 3.77% from the prior year, above the 3.75% median estimate of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg and more than the 3.59% recorded a month earlier. Annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and fuel, slightly decelerated to 3.65% from 3.66%, according to official data published Friday.
