The Federal Trade Commission is still determining who it considers to be Amazon.com Inc.’s competitors for its 2023 landmark antitrust lawsuit accusing the e-commerce giant of monopolizing online marketplace services, an agency lawyer told a judge.

Lawyers for the company and the agency appeared Friday before US District Judge John Chun in Seattle to provide a high-level overview of their coming economic arguments and evidence as they prepare for a trial set for October 2026. Identifying which companies Amazon most closely competes with is critical for showing how its conduct harms rivals.
