The UK removed the Syrian central bank and 23 other entities from a list of sanctioned institutions, a recognition of the country’s new administration following the overthrow of former President Bashar Al-Assad.

The majority of those listed in are banks and energy companies, though flagship carrier Syrian Air is also included, according to a UK government notice on Thursday. Their assets will no longer be frozen and trading with them is now permitted.
