Norway will open for cities to introduce zero-emissions zones, as the number of electric cars on the road in the biggest urban centers passes 40%.

Such zones are a useful “tool that can contribute to emissions reductions,” including driving the uptake of electric commercial light transport, where adoption has lagged behind that of passenger cars, Transport Minister Jon-Ivar Nygard said in a statement Tuesday.
