Complaints from financial services customers climbed more than 40% in the final three months of 2024, adding to the pile of motor finance cases stuck in legal limbo, according to the UK’s Financial Ombudsman Service.
New complaints jumped to more than 68,400 in the three months through December, from about 48,000 in the same period in 2023, the FOS said in a statement on Tuesday. Motor finance was the biggest category, followed by credit cards.
