Mauritius to Amend Budget Law After Finding Coffers in Bad State

Mauritius plans to amend the Finance and Audit Act to introduce performance-based budgeting after an audit of public finances found they were in a dire state.
The new budgeting system will aim at linking funds with results and outcomes, improving operational efficiency in government administration and enforcing fiscal accountability and transparency, according to an amendment bill published on the National Assembly’s website.
