Nigel Farage’s decision to blame Volodymyr Zelenskiy for the disastrous outcome of his meeting on Friday with US President Donald Trump laid bare a split in the right of UK politics that threatens to cost support for his Reform UK Party.
While senior members of the opposition Conservative party condemned Trump and Vice President JD Vance’s berating of the Ukrainian president, Farage — whose party has gained popularity since the Tories’ historic defeat in July — chose instead to say Zelenskiy had “played it very badly” in his Oval Office meeting and should have show the US leader more respect.
