The European Union is considering helping finance central-east nations to store natural gas in Ukraine next winter.
The EU could help support some purchases of non-Russian gas by landlocked Slovakia and Hungary, which would be shipped to Ukrainian storage, according to people familiar with the matter. The fuel would then be sold to countries in central and east Europe that used to rely on Russian gas, said the people, who asked not to be identified commenting on ongoing talks.
