A separatist Kurdish group said it will implement a ceasefire from Saturday, in response to a call by its imprisoned leader to lay down arms and work toward ending a 40-year war for autonomy against Turkey.

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or the PKK, agrees with the content of the call and “will comply with and implement the requirements of the call from our own front,” a Rudaw report cited the PKK as saying in a statement.
