German Conservatives, SPD to Continue Coalition Talks Next Week

Officials from Germany’s conservative CDU/CSU bloc and the Social Democrats will continue talks on forming a coalition government next week following a first meeting on Friday.

“The exploratory discussions began in an open and constructive atmosphere,” the general secretaries of the three parties said in a brief joint statement.
