Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc. plans to fly the first flight of its upgraded spaceplane in the US during the summer of 2026, which would bring an end to a nearly two-year hiatus of flying to space for the company.

The Richard Branson-founded company also said in a release announcing fourth-quarter results that its first private astronaut flights on the new craft are expected to begin in fall 2026. The first of the new missions will include research cargo only.
