Romania’s far-right presidential candidate Calin Georgescu was questioned as part of an investigation into his campaign as tensions mount over whether his bid to become head of state will move forward.

Images posted on social media showed the candidate being served documents by state prosecutors in Bucharest after his car was stopped. Georgescu had been about to register for his candidacy when police took him in for questioning, his media team said in a post on Facebook.
