Europe EV Sales Jump 37% as Carmakers Push for Laxer CO2 Rules

Europe’s electric-vehicle sales rose 37% last month as automakers promoted their battery-powered cars in order to comply with tighter emissions regulation this year.

EV deliveries surged in markets including Germany, the UK and Italy in January, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association said Tuesday. Total sales in the region declined 2.1% due to falling demand for plug-in hybrid, gasoline and diesel models.
