Austrian parties looking to forge a centrist alliance of conservative, social-democrat and liberal groups are making progress toward agreeing on a government program.

Negotiators have taken steps to iron out policy differences and are ready to compromise on key matters, People’s Party chief Christian Stocker, a likely candidate for chancellor, told reporters on Saturday.
