Trump to End Temporary Deportation Shield for Haitians in US

The Trump administration plans to end deportation protections for hundreds of thousands of Haitians living in the US, deepening a push to scrap a temporary shield for migrants from troubled countries.
Temporary Protected Status for Haitians will end Aug. 3, the Homeland Security Department said in a statement Thursday. That’s about six months before the scheduled expiration in early 2026 set under an extension granted by the Biden administration.
