Target Corp. was sued by the state of Florida for allegedly failing to disclose the risks of the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives to investors, the latest lawsuit tied to a backlash over the retailer’s 2023 LGBTQ-Pride campaign.

The proposed class action suit filed Thursday claims executives downplayed the impact of consumer boycotts sparked by the campaign. The company promoted “inappropriate” products to children and families during Pride Month, which “embroiled Target in the culture war and caused Target to experience record stock declines and foregone sales, costing investors billions,” the Republican-led state alleged in the complaint.
