IMF Starts Mozambique Visit and Says It Will Continue Support

The International Monetary Fund is visiting Mozambique and has pledged its continued support, Mission Chief Pablo Lopez Murphy said.

Months of deadly protests shook Mozambique’s economy last year in the wake of a disputed Oct. 9 election that extended the ruling party’s five decades in power. The unrest hit government revenue, compounding a growing debt problem and tipping the economy into a quarterly contraction.
