Five Israeli army reservists face a court martial and potentially lengthy jail terms over the severe beating of a Palestinian detainee at an interrogation center, the first such case since the start of the war in Gaza.

Charges of aggravated assault and abuse were filed on Wednesday against the defendants, whose arrest while on duty at the Sde Teiman stockade in July incensed far-right Israeli politicians and led to clashes between protesters and military police.
