Prime Minister Keir Starmer backed his chancellor, Rachel Reeves, after she faced fresh scrutiny over inaccurate entries in her online resume, an issue that’s already been a source of controversy for the UK’s finance minister.
On Thursday, the BBC reported that Reeves had overstated the duration of her tenure at the Bank of England before entering politics. The chancellor said in a 2022 video clip that she had spent the “best part of a decade” working at the central bank, while in a 2021 magazine interview, she said she’d been there “for a decade.”
