General Electric Co. is turning to artificial intelligence to help its network of jet-engine repair shops inspect critical turbine components in narrow-body jets more efficiently.

Now known as GE Aerospace, the company has rolled out a new blade inspection tool using AI to take images of turbine blades that are responsible for producing much of a narrow-body jet engine’s thrust, the company said in a statement on Thursday. The AI helps technicians identify potential issues sooner and can cut inspection times in half, the company said.
