Jonathan McKernan, a Republican director at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., said Monday he would leave the bank watchdog to maintain the political balance of the agency’s board.

“It has been a great honor to serve on the FDIC Board,” McKernan said in a post on the social media platform X. “I’ve every confidence that under the new FDIC leadership, the FDIC will succeed in its mission while also reversing the regulatory overreaches of the last few years.”
