Europe has lured workers back to their offices more quickly than the US. But a new study shows the continent’s reputation for having greener office buildings isn’t quite what it used to be.
Over the past five years, energy-use intensity in US office buildings declined 20.2%, exceeding the 18.3% drop in the European Union, according to an analysis by San Diego, California-based Measurabl, which tracks real estate emissions. Energy-use intensity, or EUI, is the amount of energy a building uses per square foot per year.
