UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy warned President Donald Trump against cutting foreign aid programs, saying when Britain took similar actions, it had been a “big strategic mistake.”
The Trump administration is pursuing an overhaul of USAID, that’s seen aid programs frozen and staff suspended at the agency that administers crucial humanitarian assistance around the world. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said he’s now in charge of the agency, and may end up scrapping it.
