One of the two ruling parties in Greenland wants the Arctic island to hold a referendum on independence from Denmark already in the next parliamentary term, its leader said in a broadcast interview with DR.
Greenland is set to hold a general election March 11, and Siumut, a social democratic party which has about one-third of the seats in parliament, will campaign on the pledge for a plebiscite on sovereignty from Denmark, Chairman Erik Jensen told DR.
